UNIT 2.2.1
After working with found materials with no clear concept, I started to translate the reference (Playtime, by Jacques Tati) which has interetsing visual structure and narratives going on with both the main characters and other side characters. The rework has been made into one re-contextualised version and one decontextualised verison.

UNIT 2.1.2 Iterating
During this stage, I focused on researching how graphic design could help in communicating political messages, as well as the gaze and women in film industry. However, through the exploration, I felt quite uncomfortable presenting the design concept based on a heavy political focus. Therefore my concept has shifted back to the original interest of re-contextualising and de-contextualising in the field of communication design.
During the following iterations, I explored the concept with more videos which do not have much narrative and political message, as well as other mediums such as still image and text.
UNIT 2.1.1 Iterating
During the first 100 iterations, I explored different techniques to interact with images and moving images, including physically waving with text and images, digitally cropping and editing, etc. All these iterations were focused on changing, exaggerating or subverting the original context within the image and video fragments. These iterations explored my interest in contextualising, re-contextualising and de-contextualising. In this stage, I wanted to involve this idea with a political message, especially the gaze and discrimination towards certain identities (Female, Asian).
